The Saga Continues...

Another month of ups and downs. In mid-June Paige was moved up to the preemie nursery and shortly after was taken off of her oxygen support. Unfortunately, our excitement was short-lived as the very next night she came down with a virus and became very sick. She was having very bad apnea episodes and was almost put on a ventilator. After 3 very difficult days she started improving and they again began weaning her oxygen needs and starting her bottle feeds. Since the virus impacted her already delicate respiratory system, she is struggling a little to completely come back off of the oxygen. She continues to practice with the bottle, doing 2-4 a day. She is such a sweet baby and is doing things very appropriate for her gestational age, such as eye tracking and responding to voices and music. She just hit the 5 pound mark. Although we are anxious to have her home, we are continuing to be patient until she is ready. It's amazing to think of how far she has come in 16 weeks.

Ellie is 21 months and talking up a storm. Her new favorite things to say are: 'How are you?' 'I need that.' 'Oh my gosh.' and 'What are you doing?' We were rocking in her chair before bed tonight and she started singing so I tried to join in and she told me, 'No. I do it.' Apparently she doesn't like my singing.
