Ellie 13/14 Months

Here are some pics and videos from the last few months. Ellie is getting so big and so smart. She does signs for eat, more, and please. She also says eat, cracker, blueberry (sounds like bebi), Ellie, key, car, happy, Jazzy (our cat), and the names of some of her friends at school. She loves to row, and just started singing 'row, row, row' today.

Does It Get Happier Than This?

Proof!

Finally got a few good videos tonight. Check her out walking, saying bye-bye, and saying I love you! I also got her brushing her hair and talking on the phone.

Ellie is 12 Months Old!

One year old! I can't believe it. She is such a little smarty pants. The things that she understands blows my mind. Tell her to pat her belly and she pats her belly. Tell her to say bye-bye and she waves and says bye. She can also say baby, night-night, and moo (for cow). She says 'I love you'. I know what you're thinking - yeah right. I swear it's true. I just can't get her to do it on video for proof. She loves her baby dolls and stuffed animals. She gives them hugs and it is the cutest thing ever. She's also become much more snuggly with us, which we are just eating up. She is taking lots of steps and will be full on walking any day now. I personally can't wait. I'm so over the crawling phase. It's just so dirty. She has 12 teeth, and is now eating so many new foods.

We took our first beach trip in September to Destin. Went with Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Dave, Marene, and Grandma Jane. We managed to avoid hurricane Ike in terms of rain, but the wind was pretty strong, and the tide was so high that there was barely any beach for the first couple of days. We were able to get in 1 day on the sand, and Ellie really like it - both the feel and taste. It wasn't so fun for mom and dad trying to keep her hands out of her eyes and mouth. I think we'll stick to the pool for the next year or so.

Then came the trip to CT for her birthday party. I think it was a huge success. I couldn't have imagined it going any better. Like always, she thrived with all the attention, lasting from 11 to 4 without any meltdowns. It was great seeing the family, and she finally got to meet her cousins, Liam, Meriza, and Mackenzie. They all played so great together. Makes me so sad that we don't live closer.

Month 12

Ellie is 11 Months Old!

Ok, so I don't even deserve to have a blog. I'm horrible at keeping this up to date, but will do my best to recap this month.

Her hair is getting so thick and long. We had to cut her bangs a little to get them out of her eyes. Bows just wind up in her mouth. We now have to use a hairdryer to dry her hair after the bath. She will find her hairbrush and start to brush her own hair. It's very cute.

Joe went to Savannah for a bachelor weekend, so Ellie and I decided to go visit Grandma and Grandpa in NJ, and go to Sienna's first birthday party that weekend in NY. It was quite the adventure flying just the 2 of us, but we survived. People are so nice and were always trying to help me out. Gave me the warm fuzzies. So glad we decided to make the trip. We got to see Deb and Sienna, and Stacey and Max. Sienna was adorable, and Deb threw an awesome party. I may have made fun over her a little bit for going overboard, but I took some good notes and ate my words a month later!

Ellie is 10 Months Old!

During the last few weeks, it's become all too real that Ellie is definitely not an infant anymore. She outgrew her infant seat, baby tub, and swing. We are down to only one nursing a day, and as of Monday, she is moving up to the next room at 'school.' Tooth #6 is just about out. At this rate, she'll be eating steak by her first birthday. Changing diapers of 10 month olds should be a new Olympic event. I remember when putting her on her stomach for even the shortest amount of time would result in screaming beyond belief. She was so happy being on her back. In fact, we used to put down a blanket and lay her on the table even when we were out at dinner. Got us a few strange looks, especially at the hibachi restaurant, but hey, she would just lay there and let us eat in peace. Now, I can't get her to stay still for a second. Crawling is so cute until it's your kid that's doing it. We can't keep her contained in one area for more than 2 minutes, and she only wants to go where she isn't supposed to go. Forget the nice, soft carpet we put down in the family room. Hardwood is apparently so much cooler. Now she's even pulling herself up to the standing position. This is just too much.

We left Ellie with a real babysitter for the first time last week. It was kind of cheating because it was with Shannon, one of her teachers. I didn't call even once - texting doesn't count, and I only did that once. All in all, I was very proud of both of us.

I was able to get a video of some of her latest tricks. She's now playing peek-a-boo, waving, clapping, and blowing kisses. She can say dada, mama, and duck. Don't know how the duck thing started, but everything is a duck.

Here's another video. She didn't really do anything I asked her to, but at the end she gets all up in my face and starts laughing. Wait for it - It's very cute.

When Daddy's away...

...Mommy will spend lots of money. While Joe was in Buloxi this weekend gambling away Ellie's college education fund, I did some damage of my own. Took Ellie for pictures at not one, but two photography places. Wasn't really happy with the first set, but that didn't stop me from buying a small fortune's worth of photos anyway. The second set came out little better, and was a little less expensive. Here's a few of the highlights.

This is Ellie in one of my old dresses that my Grandma Lynne gave me when I was a baby.

Love these in her tennis dress.

In other news, we had her 9 month check-up last week and she is in good shape. Just about 20 lbs and 27 3/4 inches long. One shot and one finger prick - she took it like a champ.

Ellie is 9 Months Old!

Well, Ellie is now 9 months old. She is doing new things every day. She claps her hands every time we say 'Yay' or 'Good job.' She waves hi and bye, is working on tooth #5, and just a couple of days ago she started to crawl. Also, this girl has a language all her own. It sounds like a cross between Hebrew and Chinese. She is such a chatterbox. Joe and I have officially named her the loudest baby in America.

June was such a fun month. We had two weddings - my cousin Shana's, and Joe's cousin Keith's. Shana's was in New York, so we flew there, and then went straight to San Francisco. We spent the week before Keith's wedding touring around the area with Joe's mom. Ellie did fantastic on the trip. She was such a show-off and loved to party until way past her bedtime. Joe and I kept thinking that we are going to be in big trouble when she gets older.

Ellie's Big Arrival Video

My friend, Christina, just introduced me to this amazing website called OneTrueMedia.com. I'm now completely obsessed. She showed me a video that she made of her pregnancy and birth of her son, Ryan. It gave me the chills when I watched it and I knew I needed to do one of my own. Enjoy!

Ellie - Birth to 8 Month Albums

I didn't have the guts to attempt creating a blog until July, but after some coaching from Ami, I am ready to give it a whirl. Just archiving all these older albums that were previously sent by email.
